meet jonathan tsao
Jonathan Tsao is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Don Valley North and a fifth-generation Torontonian who still calls the riding home. Raised in the community and deeply connected to its people, Jonathan has spent over 25 years working across government and the non-profit sector to improve the lives of everyday Ontarians. Whether it’s fighting for affordable housing, improving healthcare access, or creating better supports for families, his work has always centered people—not politics.
Jonathan’s experience is wide-ranging but always mission-driven. He’s served as a Toronto City Councillor, a senior advisor at Queen’s Park and Parliament Hill, and an advocate for vulnerable communities through Habitat for Humanity. He’s also helped shape critical public institutions as a board member at the Toronto Zoo, the Yee Hong seniors’ care centre, and the University of Toronto.
Now, as the Ontario Liberal critic for Citizenship & Immigration, Community & Social Services, and Children, Community & Youth Services, Jonathan is focused on building a more caring, inclusive Ontario. He’s championing support for newcomers, better services for low-income families, and stronger mental health and developmental supports for children and youth.
For Jonathan, these issues aren’t theoretical—they’re deeply personal. He understands what it means to worry about aging parents, rising food prices, or whether your kids will have the same opportunities you did. That’s why he’s committed to using every tool available to help people in Don Valley North—and across the province—live with dignity, security, and hope.
